A sweet way to share your love on Valentine’s Day is by way of Valentine Heart Cookie Bars!
The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, or so ‘they’ say. They happen to be right when it comes to the three fellas that I live with. And this time of the year I find my way to their hearts with individually wrapped festive Valentine Heart Cookie Bars.
This recipe is not just made with a lot of love, it is made with a lot of pink & red M&Ms! But even with all those M&Ms my Valentine Heart Cookie Bars are not too sweet as they are made with Wheat Flour and Brown Sugar.
Valentine Heart Cookie Bars
1 cup of Wheat Flour
1 cup of packed Light Brown Sugar
1 3/4 cup of M&Ms, divided
1 stick of Butter
1 1/3 teaspoons Vanilla
Preheat oven to 350*.
Prepare an 8×8 or 9×9 pan with Parchment Paper.
Melt butter, add it to a medium size mixing bowl. Allow a couple minutes for the butter to cool before adding the Egg & Vanilla to the bowl. Beat until the wet mixture is smooth.
Add Wheat and Sugar to the bowl then mix until well combined. Fold in 1 1/2 cups of M&Ms.
Pour batter into prepared pan then flatten with a spatula or the back of a spoon to create an even top. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of M&Ms on the top of batter then lightly press the M&Ms down.
Bake at 350* for 25-30 minutes or until the cookie bar passes the ‘toothpick test’. Allow cookie bar to cool completely then remove it from the pan by picking up the Parchment Paper.
