Cranberry & Citrus Green Smoothie

Cranberry & Citrus Green Smoothie by trishsutton.comAre you one of the many I hear from that LOVES Smoothies but doesn’t so much love Greens?

Or are you one that prefers to skip Dairy yet you keep coming across Smoothie Recipes that include milk?

You are not alone.  Williams-Sonoma has an initiative seeking a similar “not so typical smoothie”.

AND I HAVE THE ANSWER…

I present to you a delicious Cranberry & Citrus Green Smoothie for the first day of winter!

You might remember my favorite holiday side dish that I shared in November.  This colorful smoothie was inspired by my Aunt’s Cranberry Relish Recipe.

Using a few of the same fresh ingredients from her recipe that are so sweet in season this time of year, along with fresh Spinach, I created a smoothie free of dairy with hidden greens that screams “winter”.

 Ingredients:
– 1 1/2 Cup of Frozen Cranberries
– 2 Apples with Peel (I used Gala)
– 2 Cups Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice
– 2 Handfuls of Spinach
Optional: 2 Teaspoons of Splenda Sugar for a Sweeter Smoothie

Directions:
Add ingredients to blender in order listed above; blend well.  Serves two.

The official taste tester at my house approves this recipe.  In the words of my twenty year old son, “This tastes just like a smooth Cranberry Relish.  It’s so good and you can’t even tell there’s Spinach in it.”

Is there a specific fruit that reminds you of your favorite season?
