DIY & Homemade Costumes; A Round-Up For Halloween

My sister and I have spent the past three days collecting what we will need for our Halloween costumes this year.  Even though we live in different states we are looking forward to spending this Halloween in the same place and have planned our costumes together.  (Together as in picture text messaging, of course!)

In a few weeks I will share the details of the costume duo that my sister and I have created piece by piece.  In the meantime, I have invited others to share the costumes they have created.

You have to see the Pac-Man Family!  And the Witch Doctor!!  THAT costume is so clever.  If I had a little girl I would want her to be a Paper Doll! How creative and cute is that costume?

No doubt there will be countless Minions out trick-or-treating this year.  For a simple Minion costume create my DIY Googly Eye Minion T-Shirt then add a pair of blue pants!  It would make the perfect costume for those who love the Minions but do not love masks.

Over the years I have had a few favorite costumes.  My favorite duo was the year my cousin dressed as “Hefty” and I dressed as “Wimpy” from the trash bag commercial.

I had trash coming out the bottom of my bag, more trash stuck to my legs, a dirty face and I carried and empty milk carton.  While the trash bag around my cousin was perfectly shaped, rounded and tied securely with no issues.  Across the front of her trash bag was the word, “Hefty”, written with masking tape while my trash bag costume read “Wimpy”.

Another duo that I absolutely loved was in 2012 when our boys were Elmo and the Hulk.  We purchased the Elmo costume at a big box retailer then added red shoes and painted the tip of our little guy’s nose orange.

Hulk was painted too!  The big guy required a little more paint than Elmo’s nose.  We covered our older son in six tubes of green body paint, tore the legs off of a pair of purple sweatpants which was all it took for him to transform in to The Hulk.
