Create a DIY Photo Wreath using Mason jar lids and family photos. Share this sentimental circle of memories as a gift. It is perfect for Mother’s Day!
The possibilities for a photo wreath are endless. It is a simple sentimental gift that can be customized for any family member or friend. Think holiday or vacation memories, photos of grandchildren or even photos of the school year highlights to be given to teachers. I chose sixteen of my favorite family photos from the past eight years for my wreath.
DIY Photo Wreath
Supplies
- 16 Mason Jar Lids
- Ribbon
- Jute (or another type of string/ribbon)
- Scissors
- Foam Paint Brush
- Mod Podge
- Printer
- Printer Paper
- Hot Glue Gun
Optional
- Scrapbook Paper
- Craft Tape
- Printable Template; 2.25 inch circles
Directions
Begin by printing your selected photos on regular printer paper. I created and used a template of circles that are 2.25 inches in diameter. If you’d like a copy of the template you can print that here.
Cut out each photo. Then use Mod Podge to secure the photos to the front sides of the Mason jar lids. Simply sponge or brush a layer of Mod Podge onto the shiny side of each lid then place the photos on the glue and gently rub to release any air bubbles. If desired, create an alternating pattern of photos mixed with craft tape and/or scrapbook paper.
Next, glue the lids together in the shape of a large circle by overlapping the edges of each lid until they are all secure and in the shape of a wreath. I used a 9 inch paper plate as a guide to ensure my DIY Photo Wreath kept the shape of a round wreath.
Create a bow out of ribbon then use hot glue to secure the it to the back side of the wreath. Make a loop with a small piece of jute or string then glue it to the back of the bow to hang your wreath of memories.
