Must Have Dry Shampoo

Let’s talk Dry Shampoo.  If you have not yet been introduced, are still using Baby Powder to freshen up your locks, or have held out on purchasing a can of the good stuff this is the article for you.  Read all about my thoughts on salon grade dry shampoo down to the grocery store finds.  Dry Shampoo is a necessity for your “no wash” days, refreshing your style before an evening out, for overnight camping trips, and is a great way to keep your bangs looking fresh.

The VERY best Dry Shampoo on the market is Bumble and Bumble Hair PowderWithout a doubt.  The best.  Bumble and Bumble Hair Powder comes in a variety of hair a-wl-IMG_2042colors/shades and while some other brands leave a white residue behind (ah-hem, Big Sexy Hair), Bumble and Bumble’s dry cleansing powder does not.  Their product matches individual hair color and goes on without notice and without build up.  This dry spray does not add weight, rather it adds the perfect boost and revives some much needed volume.  Bumble and Bumble costs approximately $36 and can only be purchased at participating salons.  A can lasts quite a while and it is definitely worth the cost and the drive to the salon.

My favorite “OTC” Dry Shampoo used to be TRESemme Fresh Start.  It is a $5 buy at any grocery store and seemed to work great in my hair as far as leaving very little residue and very little added weight.  The can on the other hand does not work well.  Not only does the black can of TRESemme Dry Shampoo clog consistently, my last purchase completely quit spraying during a-wl-IMG_2070week three!  No. Thank. You.  I have replaced my $5 favorite with Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Refreshing Dry Shampoo.  Talk about the most bang for the buckthis dry shampoo is fabulous.  The scent is what I like least as it is a little bit stronger than the others however the smell quickly disappears.  The spray will show white when applied if it is applied too close to the scalp so beware when spraying it on.  Not Your Mother’s Dry Shampoo is my recommendation for a brand that can be purchased at almost any store.

Tigi Bed Head Rockaholic Dirty Secret is another Dry Shampoo that gets the job done.  Rockaholic Dirty Secret is in the same price range ($18-21) as Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo and can be found at several grocery store chains, Target, and most public beauty supply stores including Ulta.  I am not a fan of Big Sexy Hair Dry Shampoo as it creates more build up than wet shampoo can remove and the heavy feel does not leave the clean hair feeling that Bumble and Bumble, Not Your Mother’s, and Rockaholic Dirty Secret creates on those “no wash” days.

I would love to hear all about your favorite Dry Shampoo brands ~ leave a comment below or leave me a note on Facebook or Twitter and have a great hair day!
