Every Christmas season during my teen years and the first few years of my early twenties I would spend hours upon hours shopping and baking with my Grandma. She was a Christmas Confectionist and I was her apprentice.
I use the word ‘apprentice’ loosely. You see, my Grandma would have preferred I paid more attention to the detail of her recipes than I actually did. Every year she would tell me that one day she would no longer be around. My Grandma would remind me that just like her Spaghetti Sauce and Pinto Beans, there would be a time that I would bake Sugar Cookies and make Divinity alone.
My Grandma would take a moment to sip her black coffee; I would mimic her and sip my Hot Chocolate then she would say with a sigh that she didn’t want me to regret not learning more in her kitchen.
It turns out my Grandma was right. I now make Spaghetti Sauce and Sugar Cookies without her guidance. And, it is true, I often wish I would have taken in more of the details of her recipes.
Considering that my Grandma used a double broiler to make Fudge I am certain she would tell me that my recipe for Ten Minute Hot Chocolate Fudge made with M&M’s® Hot Chocolate is cheating. With a sigh she would likely share an expression split between “shame on you” and “good for you”.
Ingredients:
1.5 cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1.5 cups White Chocolate Chips
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk (divided)
1 bag of M&M’s® Hot Chocolate
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (divided)
Directions:
Prepare a 9×9 square pan by lining it with parchment paper for easy removal of fudge. Set aside.
In a microwave safe bowl heat Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips and half a can of Sweetened Condensed Milk on high for 1 minute. Remove from microwave.
In a second microwave safe bowl heat White Chocolate Chips and the remainder of the Sweetened Condensed Milk on high for 1 minute.
While the White Chocolate Chip mix is in the microwave add 1/2 teaspoon of Vanilla to the Semi-Sweet Chocolate mix and stir until well combined. If needed, heat an additional 30 seconds. Stir until chips are completely melted and the chocolate is smooth. Do the same for the White Chocolate mix, add Vanilla and stir until well combined. Heat as needed to melt the chips.
Pour the Semi-Sweet Chocolate mix into the prepared pan. Top with the White Chocolate mix then use a knife to swirl the Chocolate layers. Sprinkle M&M’s® Hot Chocolate on top the gently press the M&M’s® into the Fudge. Refrigerate until the Ten Minute Hot Chocolate Fudge until is is completely cool.
Lift Parchment paper out of the pan and cut into squares. Store in an airtight container.
You can find M&M’s® Hot Chocolate at your local Walmart on the candy aisle near the M&M’s® Holiday Peanut Butter and M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate. I can’t buy the chocolate without the peanut butter! Try mixing a bag of M&M’s® Holiday Peanut Butter with a bag of M&M’s® Holiday Milk Chocolate in a candy dish. Every handful is perfection. All three flavors of M&M’s® and both Pillsbury™ products were all within a few feet on and just across from aisle A15, the Seasonal aisle.
