Minions are EVERYWHERE. People seem to be crazy about them. And even though I did not go see The Minions movie when my boys did, I still think that the small, yellow, cylindrical, creatures are adorable! DIY Googly Eye Minion T-shirt.
Because Minions are everywhere. And because they are absolutely adorable I have created a Do It Yourself ‘Googly Eye’ Minion T-shirt for my little guy.
As you can see up above, HE LOVES IT.

DIY Googly Eye Minion T-shirt
Items Needed
– Yellow T-shirt
– BIG Googly Eye
– Black & Grey Fabric Paints
– Paint Brushes
– Ruler
– Velcro
– Craft Glue
– Needle & Thread
Pre-wash your T-Shirt. Then add a piece of Card Board inside the dry preshrunk shirt to keep the paint from bleeding through. Decide where to place the big Googly Eye on your Minion T-Shirt and put a ruler behind the eye to hold the place where you will paint a black band. Then mark the edges of the ruler with a pen or pencil.
Use the ruler as a straight edge to paint the outside lines black then fill in your band. After painting the rest of the band black allow your T-Shirt to dry completely. While the paint dries, paint the outside edge of the big Googly Eye grey.
Cut the Velcro to the width of the big Googly Eye. Secure one side of the Velcro onto the back of the big Googly Eye with craft glue. Then sew the other side of the Velcro into place on the center of the black painted band.
Attach your Googly Eye to your Minion T-Shirt so that you can decide where you would like the Minion’s smile and hair. Using a tiny paint brush, paint the Minion’s smirk and hair onto the T-Shirt. Adorable!
After it dries, it’s ready to wear! Be sure to remove the Googly Eye from your DIY Minion T-Shirt before washing it.

I’m having trouble attaching the Velcro to my Googly eye because the back of the eye is so slick. Any advice??
Bummer!! The back of my googly eye was card board which as you can imagine held super easy. Do you have any contact cement? A thicker gooey-er glue should stick to slick surfaces with no trouble.
Great idea! Both my sons would love this idea. Thank you for sharing how to do it!
Thanks Christine! 🙂
