Fall Burlap & Twig Wreath

Fall Burlap & Twig Wreath by trishsutton.comI love burlap.  And so when I came across a burlap sunflower in my local craft store there was no question I was taking it home.  I knew that I would use it, I just didn’t know where.

Fast forward a couple months, it was time to add some “Fall” to our front door.  The first thing that came to my mind was that burlap sunflower that I have been hanging onto.

The second thing that came to mind was the gold paint that I have been patiently waiting to use!  Perfect.

To create my Fall Burlap & Twig Wreath I used a heavy twig wreath along with burlap ribbon, a few artificial fall leaves, a wooden “S” that I painted & sanded a couple times, and that burlap sunflower that I couldn’t live without.

Before I began assembling my wreath I painted my wooden initial dark brown and sanded the paint once it dried, I did a little highlighting paint with gold and then sanded the “S” one final time.

The wreath is held together with hot glue except for the wooden initial that I attached using wire.  I stapled the wire to the back of the wood, then wrapped the wire around the wreath to secure the initial in place.

This simple door wreath was made in less than a nap time!
