It is not often that I stroll down the freezer aisle at the grocery store looking for new things to try. More times than not picking up a freezer meal from the grocery store equates to sub-par ‘fast food’ that can be heated in the oven which I would rather skip anyway.
Ling Ling Fried Rice Review; Quick and Clean Eating
When I was invited to try out the new Ling Ling Fried Rice line I wasn’t expecting much more than a reheated freezer meal. I assumed that I would find basic sub-par fast food that would serve as a quick meal on game night. I was right about the latter.
The new Ling Ling Fried Rice line includes five unique dishes based on authentic Asian inspired recipes from Japan, China, Korea and Thailand. My family tried two of the five options; Chinese-Style Vegetable Fried Rice and Japanese-Style Yakiniku Beef Fried Rice. We could not decide which one we liked more therefore, we have decided that we need to try the Yakitori Chicken, Thai-Style Chicken and Bibimbap Beef too.
The frozen boxes of Ling Ling Fried Rice contain two bags. Suggested serving size is one bag and they can be prepared either in the microwave or in a skillet. We prepared one of each flavor in the microwave and one of each flavor on the stove. Our consensus was that we preferred the stove-top option over the microwave. The skillet preparation offered more of a crispier texture as opposed to the microwaved moister texture.
Both meals had fantastic flavor and we understood immediately why Ling Ling Fried Rice has been compared to restaurant quality clean eating. The best part was that they were ready in minutes, tasted like REAL food and clean-up was a breeze. Of course, this is when I rethink the freezer section of the grocery store. Ling Ling Fried Rice will be a staple in our freezer. The quick to prepare meals will be perfect for practice and game nights at our house.
