With Spring Break in sight it is time to consider fun destinations with fantastic weather!
Spring Break. Beaches & bathing suits, amusement parks, sunshine and a little R&R sounds perfect. And I have found a perfect piece of paradise that is all that and more, San Diego Spring Break: Grand Pacific Palisades Resort, Carlsbad.
Recently our family fell in love with Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. This vacation destination in Carlsbad was the complete package with everything on our list of getaway conveniences.
When I say we fell in love with this Hilton property, I mean we want to move to Grand Pacific Palisades Resort and live there permanently.
From the moment our family arrived at Grand Pacific Palisades Resort until the day we left this little piece of paradise, we were blown away by the overall beauty and hospitality of this resort.
When me and my (then) four year old walked into the large beautiful lobby to check in we immediately received a warm welcome from the front desk. We were helped by the first available guest service agent. Joanna. Her friendly greeting and thoughtful conversation felt genuine. My little guy agrees! Joanna let him select a special prize out of the treasure chest. His day was made.
We stayed in a two bedroom Vacation Villa that had a full size kitchen, three beds, two bathrooms and a six person conference table. The room also had a fireplace in the living room and a wrap around balcony with ocean views. Every detail was incredible. The decor was modern and the floorplan was spacious. Our immediate consensus was that we could get used to this.
The accommodating staff and incredible room (Villa) were not the only impressive characteristics of the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. This lush 12.2 acre resort overlooks the Carlsbad Flower Fields. There were many luxuries; including an underground parking garage, water park, two swimming pools, three hot tubs, fitness center, a playground, a rec center, indoor & outdoor games, more than one laundry room and daily scheduled activities for all ages.
Our Craft Beer loving family was thrilled that there was a Karl Strauss Restaurant that even offers room service. And a big bonus was that Karl Strauss gives a (dine-in) discount to guests of Grand Pacific Palisades Resort. In fact, resort guests receive a discount card upon arrival for 45 area restaurants.
(Side note, Karl Strauss Endless Summer Light and their Windansea Wheat are my two favorite beers. If you get the chance, try em’!)
Back to our checklist. Beach? Carlsbad Beach is five minutes away. Sunshine? Most of the time! Amusement Park? Yep, that too! Legoland is a five minute walk. It is just across the street from Grand Pacific Palisades Resort so the majority of those five minutes are spent walking across Legoland’s parking lot.
Rest and relaxation? Oh yes. There is really no reason to leave the resort other than to walk across the street to Legoland. With the views, the pools, the games, the play areas, all of the other activities and amenities this resort could very easily be a vacation destination turned staycation.
Whether it is Spring Break or any other time of the year getaway the Grand Pacific Palisades Resort has it all. Their convenient location just off the I-5 is about a 40 minute drive from the San Diego airport. They are about an hour from Disneyland (Anaheim) and just minutes away from more than one beach.
It takes about 30 minutes to get to Sea World from Grand Pacific Palisades Resort and just a few more minutes to get to the San Diego Zoo right next to the museums, gardens and trails at Balboa Park. Grand Pacific Palisades Resort is within minutes of the Carlsbad Premium Outlet Mall and the Carlsbad Strawberry Farm.
It is no secret that I love Southern California and that I miss the days of living six miles away from the coast. Anytime our family can go back, we do. And now we have another favorite place to stay just north of San Diego.
