Spread Cheer with Betty Crocker. For 16 years my oldest and I dedicated one night of the Christmas Season to baking dozens of Christmas cookies and candies. While listening to Christmas music (and sometimes a little bit of Eminem) we would bake until we saw the sun rise. Then after a morning nap we would plate our sweet sugary gifts and deliver some Christmas cheer to our neighbors.
The past few years have been a little different. We start our baking a little earlier in the day, we have added a few baking shortcuts, we pass on the all nighter and we have an extra pair of (little) hands in the kitchen.
Our time together is still precious and it is still messy. Of course, the mess is worth it. My boys are like their Momma when it comes to appreciating the gift of time. Betty Crocker also understands the love that goes into baking, the gift of time that is shared and the memories that are made when those special treats are shared with loved ones.
Spread Cheer Sugar Cookie Snowball Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Package of Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie Mix
- 1 Stick of Butter
- 1 Egg
- 1 Block of Cream Cheese
- 1 bag (12 oz) White Vanilla Baking Chips
- 1 container Betty Crocker Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
Step One
Make Sugar Cookies according to the package directions, adding an additional two minutes baking time to create more of a crispier cookie. Cool cookies completely.
Step Two
Place Cookies in food processor and grind cookies until they are all fine crumbs. Add the cream cheese to the food processor and mix until the mixture begins to stick together.
Step Three
Prepare a cookie sheet with wax paper. Roll mixture into 1″ balls place them on the cookie sheet. Put the cookie balls into the freezer for 20-30 minutes.
Step Four
Melt the vanilla chips and frosting in a small saucepan over low heat on the stove. (I use the ‘melt’ setting on my stove.) Using a skewer dip each Sugar Cookie Ball into the vanilla coating. Rotate as needed to cover the ball then place it on the cookie sheet, add sprinkles before the coating sets. Allow time for the Sugar Cookie Snowballs to set (place pan in the fridge to speed up the process).
Spread Cheer Sugar Cookie Snowball Recipe
We packaged our Sugar Cookie Snowballs in a Mason Jar decorated with three black buttons & a ribbon scarf, we painted the lid of our jar black to resemble a hat and attached a Betty Crocker (printable) “Your Cheer Is Here!” tag.
After the little guy filled our Snowman Mason Jar with Sugar Cookie Snowballs we were ready to spread cheer! We let the young Betty Crocker apprentice decide who to surprise with our first jar of sweet goodness, he (of course) chose his Aunt who lives just down the street.
Our next mason jar Snowman was filled with iced Sugar Cookies! Betty Crocker makes a Cookie Icing that goes on smooth and dries quick. It just so happens that a dozen cookies fit perfectly in a mason jar.
