Back to School Feeding Reading
Free Book from Kellogg’s®
Yesterday our little guy went back to school which has made for a bittersweet time. While I’m excited for my little nugget to grow and learn and experience new things; I would also like to keep him home to play, explore and enjoy summer just a bit longer. Alas, second grade was calling and we reluctantly smiled our way through the first day of school. One perk to our little guy being back in school is returning to our after school snack, book and cuddle time!
Growing up the after school routine for my siblings and myself was to complete our homework as soon as we arrived home from school. For the most part my husband and I have kept that expectation in place for our boys. Along with math worksheets and studying spelling words, taking time to read is a must. It is our hope as parents that we instill a love of reading in our children. We believe firmly that reading leads to much more than just a story. Dr. Seuss said it best, “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Our boys have rarely missed an after school snack. Learning is hard work!! And over time we have learned that the necessary after school snack pairs well with reading! Our after school reading routine is one we love to share together. Kellogg’s would also like to share their love of literacy.
Whether your children’s personal home library needs a little love or your own love of literacy leads you to donate books to a local school, the Kellogg’s and Scholastic free book program is the way to go.
