There is spooky and then there is scary. The Halloween decor goal at our house is spooky with a touch of silly and absolutely nothing scary. Mason Jar Mummy Luminaries.
A couple years ago our little guy insisted that the Halloween decorations in our house should not be scary. For the betterment of our household and sleep schedule we conceded and agreed that scary was out. Spooky and silly were IN.
Mason Jar Mummy Luminaries are a simple and silly way to add Halloween cheer both outdoors and indoors. Along with a few Mason Jars you will need a roll or two of first aid gauze and tea lights or candles. (Add my favorite battery operated tea lights and you won’t even have to remember to light your mummies at night – they have timers!)
Mason Jar Mummy Luminaries
SUPPLIES:
Mason Jars
(I used three different sizes)
Mod Podge
Paint Sponge or Paint Brush
First Aid Gauze Rolls
Googly Eyes
Hot Glue Gun
Scissors
Battery Operated Tea Lights
(or candles)
DIRECTIONS:
First, cover the mason jar with a layer of Mod Podge glue.
Next, secure one end of gauze onto the jar then wrap the gauze around the jar.
Continue to layer the gauze until the entire jar is covered and your desired look is achieved.
Then secure the end of the gauze with more glue and attach googly eyes to your Mason Jar Mummy Luminaries with a couple dabs of hot glue.
Place the mason jar lid ring onto the jar (if desired) then add a candle or tea light to your Mason Jar Mummy Luminaries.
If you do not already have battery operated tea lights that you love – check THESE out. I love them. They are controlled by a remote and there is also timer option in which the lights will come on at the same time daily and automatically turn off after six hours. Awesome.
