A DIY Wood Block Photo Cube is a thoughtful way to share memories with loved ones.
As a child I would rotate the plastic photo cube at my Great Grandmother’s house over and over. She rarely changed out the photos in her cube yet I still enjoyed looking at it every time I visited her house.
This DIY photo cube is not plastic. And the pictures are not interchangeable. However, the memories displayed will bring just as many smiles as my Grandma-Mom’s simple and sentimental décor.
DIY Wood Block Photo Cube
Supplies
4 inch Wood Block
Craft Paint
Paint Brush
Sanding Sponge/Block
Mod Podge (I used Matte Finish.)
Foam Paint Brush
6 Photos Printed on Regular Paper
(Images should be just under 4 inches by 4 inches in size.)
Clear Acrylic Coating Spray
Directions
Paint all sides of the wood block with craft paint. Allow time for the painted block to dry completely.
Rub the sandpaper over the painted wood block to scuff the paint; continue to sand the paint until the desired look is achieved.
Cut out the images so that they are each just a bit smaller than 4 inches.
Use a foam paintbrush to coat the backside of each photo with a layer of Mod Podge then press the images onto the wood block; continue this step until all six sides of the wood block are covered.
Allow 3-4 hours for the glue to dry completely.
Paint one coat of Mod Podge over all six images. It is best if you use straight smooth strokes.
Allow 2-3 hours dry time.
Spray acrylic coating spray over each side of the photo wood block. Allow dry time.
