Muddy Snowballs. That is really the only way I know to describe these Oreo Cookie Cake Balls made with crushed OREOs.
They resemble that of the ever popular cake ball only the center is not made up of crumbled cake and frosting, rather it is made with crushed OREOs and Cream Cheese. Creamy white on the outside and muddy black on the inside.
Muddy Snowballs Made With OREOs
Ingredients:
1 Package (8 ounces) Cream Cheese, Softened
1 Package OREO Cookies, Finely Crushed
1 Package Almond Bark
1 Tablespoon Vegetable Shortening
Optional – Sprinkles or Cookie Crumbs for topping
Directions:
Before you begin make sure your cream cheese block is soft. Prepare a pan with a sheet of waxed paper.
Crush the entire package of Oreos in a food processor or blender until finely crushed. In a medium size mixing bowl mix the softened cream cheese and crushed Oreos until well blended. (Like REALLY well blended, no visible white.)
Shape into 1 1/2 inch balls (cake ball size). Place the balls on prepared pan. Then freeze for one hour. Oreo mixture will make between 20-24 Oreo Cookie Cake Balls.
After an hour remove the pan of Oreo Cookie Cake Balls from the freezer then prepare outside coating. Follow melting instructions on Almond Bark. If needed, add the shortening to create a creamier consistency.
Dip frozen Oreo balls into melted Almond Bark then place them on a wax paper lined pan. If desired, top with sprinkles or cookie crumbs. Refrigerate for one hour. Remove your delightful (but sometimes messy looking) Oreo Cookie Cake Balls aka Muddy Snowballs from the fridge then store in an airtight container. Enjoy!
WARNING: Extremely addictive. HOWEVER, rave worthy.
Another rave worthy treat that that doubles as a gift are Sugar Cookie Snowballs. Just as easy to make and they look adorable dressed up like a snowman!
