Who doesn’t love a sweet and salty treat? Better yet, who doesn’t love no bake recipes? Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark.
Mint, toffee, vanilla, candy pieces and marshmallows are just a few of the ingredients in some of my most viewed chocolate recipes. All of which end in the word “bark”. I have yet another bark recipe to add to that collection of simple treats.
Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark
Ingredients
- 3 cups Chocolate Chips (I mix semi-sweet & milk chocolate chips), divided
- 2 cups Pretzels (I use the square waffle shape, twists would work just as well)
- 1 bag Caramels (11 ounce bag), unwrapped
- Coarse Sea Salt, optional
Directions
Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper, then set the pan aside.
Add 2 cups of chocolate chips to a microwave safe bowl then heat on high for one minute. Stir then heat for an additional 45-60 seconds, stir until smooth. Pour melted chocolate onto prepared baking sheet. Use a spatula (or butter knife) to spread the chocolate evenly over the pan then immediately add pretzels.
Gently press a layer of pretzels into the chocolate. They do not all have to be flat, it is ok with they overlap.
Melt unwrapped caramels as instructed on package; melt caramels with 2 tablespoons of water in a saucepan over medium-low heat. Stirring constantly. Once the caramel mixture is smooth, remove the pan from the heat and spoon the melted caramel over the pretzel layer.
Next, melt the remaining cup of chocolate chips in another microwave safe dish. Heat the chips on high for 25-30 seconds then stir; if needed heat another 15-20 seconds then stir until smooth. Finally, pour the melted chocolate over the caramel layer. If desired, sprinkle coarse sea salt over your Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark.
Place plan in the refrigerator or freezer for 30-60 minutes. After the sweet and salty pretzel bark hardens cut it into pieces. Store Chocolate Caramel Pretzel Bark in an airtight container.
